Jessie Charles Cox was born on September 28, 1931, in Rusk, Texas, to Jessie and Vera Cox. He would meet the love of his life, Ms. Alice Ferris, and would marry 5 years later. They remained together for sixty-seven wonderful years, holding true to their vows “until death do us part.”
After wedding, they would move to Dallas, Texas, where he became a forklift driver for General Foods. He remained with General Food, until retiring in the late 80’s. Jessie accepted Christ at an early age. He was a former member of Greater Ideal Missionary Baptist Church, as well as Golden Chain Missionary Baptist Church.
Jessie was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jessie and Vera Cox, his son, Roger Lee Cox, his brothers; Johnny V. Cox, Sunny Cox, and M.C. Cox, his sisters; LaVera Cox, Jessie Cox, Dora Cox, and Mamie Fay Cox, as well as a few grand children.
Jessie leaves to honor his memory, his beautiful wife, Alice Cox, one son, James Farris (Bobbie), and six daughters, Betty Joyce Morgan, Lovera Orji, Jessie Erazo, Mollie Brown, Betty Johnson, and Dianne Cox. He also leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Vera May Scales and Thelma Bennett, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
