Donald Ray Poole

December 11, 1950 ~ January 26, 2022 (age 71)

Obituary

Donald (Don) Ray Poole, age 71, of Dallas TX, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas after courageously battling multiple illnesses.

Throughout his illness he never complained and even though he was a man of few words, no matter how he was feeling he always asked how everyone else was doing.

Don was cared for by his significant other of 39 years, Vivian Elaine Graham whom he affectionately called “my wife.”

Don was a self-employed painter for many years until his health began to fail. He found joy watching his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys and also reruns of westerns.

Don is survived by 4 children: Donna DeAnne Poole (mother is the late Addie Louise), Kendrick Poole, Kaysha Graham and stepson Keenan Blakely (mother of all 3 is Vivian Elaine Graham).

Nine siblings: Dr. Deborah Isaac Hopes, Eddie (Donna) Sweet, Bobby Sweet, Linda Taylor, Tom Sweet Jr., Teresa (Reginald) Steward, Michael Sweet, Michelle (Jerry) Duncan, Raymond (Denise) Preston.

One aunt: Saundra K. Scott of Rowlett TX; and 7 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and other family and friends.

Don was born in Seagoville TX on December 11, 1950 to Erma Joe Poole. Erma later married Tom Sweet, Sr. Both preceded him in death.

As a young boy Don was fondly referred to as “the little red boy” because of his unique skin color. While living in Dallas with his mother, Erma Joe Poole, his great Aunt Irma and Uncle Otha C Myers fell in love with Don after raising their only son Otha Tom Myers. They took Don home to live with them in Seagoville TX where he was educated in the public school system graduating from Seagoville High School in 1969. Uncle Otha C. Myers is the brother of his maternal great grandmother, Hattie Myers, who is the mother of Bobbie Cokeley (granny/nan) and her sister, Ella Lee (Aunt Lee). They all preceded him in death.

Other immediate family that preceded him in death: one son, Derrick Frazier (mother is the late Deloise Fraizer); one sister: Deborah K Green; one brother, Tracy G Sweet.
