Don L Compton was the oldest child born to Bobbie J Compton. He was the born in Saint Michael Hospital Texarkana, AR on September 13, 1964.
Don received most of his formal education from the Fort Worth Independent School District attending Dunbar Middle and High School. He graduated with the class of 1982. While attending Dunbar High School, he spent time in ROTC. Afterward, Don spent time also completing service time in the Army reserve. Don continued his education on an ongoing basis with Texas Southern University and University of Houston. He was one semester short of getting his degree when his health started to fail, and he was hospitalized.
Don did many things thru his life, he was a student, military person and artist. During his formal education in middle school, he won the award of drawing the school mascot which was later used on all the school’s mirabilia. Making a 90 percent recovery, he was able to leave the hospital and rehab facilities to come back home.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior early in life at the Red Bank Baptist Church in Hooks, Texas. Upon returning to Fort Worth, Texas, he united with Greater Saint Mark Ministries under the leadership, Bishop Dr. Mark D. Kirkland. Where he served until his health failed him.
Don loved all kinds of sports, but his most beloved passion was Dallas Cowboys. He loved everything about the Cowboys and could tell you the statics of all the players.
On Sunday afternoon, April 12, 2020, Don Compton surrendered to the call of the Lord and transitioned from earth to glory. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, William James & Florena Compton; Uncles-Curtis Lee, Monroe and Tessie, James, Clarence, Roy Chester and Willie Charles Compton; Aunt- Virginia Faye Compton Henderson
Don was never married and had no children. Those left to cherish his precious memories are his mother, Bobbie J Compton, Sisters-Jaquatta Green, Lanisha Powell (niece) and Rosalyn Compton of ATL, GA. Aunts and Uncles-Marie Haywood (Glenn), Willie Edward, (Natalie), John L Compton, All of Fort Worth, Katherine Hubbard (Carlton), of Hooks Texas and Willie Lee Compton of Wichita Falls, Texas. Special friend’s god Brother Craig Miller of Houston; Frances Brown of Fort Worth, and Everlyn Blackwell of Dallas, Texas and a host of cousins, friends and other relatives.
